  • As early as freshman year, high school students begin a profound journey of self discovery. During these early years, I recommend a focus on growth and reflection while students explore their interests, pursue talents that bring them joy, develop authentic values, identify learning preferences, and establish long term goals. By centering self-awareness and joy, I aim to equip students with the kind of personal insight that empowers them to make confident, purpose-driven choices when it comes time to build a college list, select a major, and write applications for colleges.

At this stage, I recommend a 4-hour advising package and offer my services as a supportive sounding board to help students dive into and make the most of their uniquely transformative high school years.

    These conversations will focus on:

    • Thoughtful course selection

      • Based on your goals and interests, and in alignment with your school’s offerings and recommendations

    • Building self-awareness

      • To identify strengths and sources of intellectual inspiration

    • Encouragement to pursue meaningful summer opportunities and/or leadership roles that align with interests

    • Brainstorming ideas to launch independent passion projects

    • Development of personal narrative

      • Please note that we would not begin writing any application essays at this time, nor explicitly strategizing for desired admission outcomes. This time is best spent mapping out potential paths of discovery that will genuinely energize the student and later provide insightful evidence of contributions, talents, and potential that make them a compelling admissions candidate.
